The word 'Haven'
"Welcome to our haven" – a phrase that carries so much warmth and meaning for us. Looking back, closing our small business felt like the end of one chapter, but it paved the way for an incredible new beginning. We felt a calling, a gentle nudge to open our home and hearts to a path less traveled. – foster care. It's a journey that has reshaped our lives in ways we never imagined. It wasn't always easy; there were mountains we had to quite literally had to climb over on our hands and knees, long heart breaking conversations, & emotions big enough to break the strongest people. But every step was worth it because it led us to where we are today.
If you're just joining us, hello! We're Chea and Jackie, or as our little ones call us, Mom and Mama. Our foster journey began when our first placement entered our home in August 2023. Since then, we've navigated the complexities of trauma, sought answers through several evaluations, and embraced the support of ABA therapy. There have been struggles, many moments of doubt, and times when we felt overwhelmed. Yet, through it all, we've learned the importance of unwavering care and endless patience. We've discovered the profound impact that art can have on mental health, especially for those who struggle to express themselves through words.
The word 'Haven' symbolizes so much more than just a safe place for our family; it's a sanctuary where creativity flows freely, where we can be our truest selves, and where we can nurture the care of our thoughts, it's a sanctuary where healing happens. Art therapy is versatile and can be beneficial for a wide range of mental health struggles. Its not always about creating a masterpiece; its about the process of self-expression and healing. Mental health is very real, and significantly impacts how people feel, think, and behave. Conditions like PTSD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, disruptive mood disorder, are just some of the roads we have been navigating over the last two years. It is our hope that our oldest can continue with her amazing artistic skills to help her navigate this life in her purest form, freeing her of the chains that have held her down over the last 14 years. This business is the beginning of something she will play a huge part in as she turns her dreams in to her reality.
This journey has been nothing short of transformative, and we're filled with gratitude for every moment. It's taught us the importance of family, the power of love, and the beauty of embracing the unexpected. As we embark on this new adventure, we hope to share a little piece of our 'haven' with you, bringing warmth, inspiration, and a sense of belonging into your home.
