It starts with a change in perspective
We've all been there at-least I’d like to think I’m not alone. – those nights when everything seems to go wrong. Tantrums erupt, the baby is overstimulated, PMS hits your teen like a train, she’s emotional, trauma is creeping up, outbursts that can take the whole town down, dinner is ruined, the whole house is overwhelmed with stress, and bedtime feels like a distant dream. But sometimes, those chaotic moments can be flipped into unexpected treasures.
It starts with a change in perspective.
Instead of fighting the chaos, embrace it. Splashing in puddles, each jump sending ripples across the water's surface. The rain washed away the day's stress, replaced by the pure, unadulterated joy of being present in the moment. Laughing and twirling in the rain, all three kids (my wife included) danced with the storm. In those moments, a potentially dreary night turned into an unforgettable adventure, a reminder that sometimes, the greatest joys are sometimes created, not found.
The 30 minute tantrum was no longer a fight over dinner, and having the wrong sippy cup, we had a happy laughing joyful soaking wet 2 year old who just learned how to jump, and experienced his first time jumping in a puddle. The “ I don’t know why I’m alive, why I’m here, why I can’t be fixed” turned into “thank you mom and mama for choosing me, even on my hard days, & thank you for being my moms for the rest of my life.”
These are the moments that transform a potentially disastrous evening into a cherished memory.
