Milestones

Milestones

Navigating developmental milestones can be both exciting and a little nerve-wracking. Recently, We have been reflecting on some of the early signs that led us to explore the possibility of autism for our now 2 year old. One of the first things we noticed was his fascination with spinning. He loved to spin in circles, it was a common repetitive behavior.

We also started noticing he wasn't making as much eye contact, he had a delayed response to most things, he would not really show emotion with facial expressions, he was not trying to repeat words nor sounds, he was severely delayed with walking, food was so difficult & he favored certain textures, spinning and other sensory patterns continued as we monitored him. Being a mom is, without a doubt, one of the toughest jobs in the world. It's filled with endless to-do lists, constant worries, and moments where you feel like you're running on empty. I see you, and I understand. If your reading this take a breath, your safe here.

Raising a little can feel like climbing a mountain every single day. It takes an incredible amount of energy to navigate the meltdowns, now we add autism to the mix and we have the communication challenges, and the constant sensory overload. But amidst all the chaos, there are these tiny, beautiful moments of progress that fill our hearts with so much pride. Whether it's a new word (or new sign my baby learned Coffee today in ASL!), a successful interaction, or simply a moment of calm, these victories make all the hard work worth it. I am beyond proud of my little one for every step forward, no matter how small. & I'm equally proud of all the parents out there who tirelessly advocate for their children. You pour so much love and energy into your family, and it's easy to forget that you need to recharge too. Whether it's a quiet cup of coffee, a walk in nature, or just a few minutes to breathe deeply, make self-care a priority. You are doing an amazing job, even on the days when you don't feel like it. Your love, dedication, and hard work make a world of difference in your children's lives. So, be kind to yourself, celebrate the small victories, and know that you are cherished and appreciated. You've got this, from one Burt out mama to another

"Hey mamas, just wanted to send a little love and a gentle reminder your way. But amidst all the chaos, remember to take a moment for yourself.
